Hey, this is a quick hidden post to be as transparent as possible about Drakara’s Wand’s price and why this item is particularly challenging.
On August 12th, we fixed an edge case in our pricing algorithm that was causing Drakara’s Wand to be inaccurately priced. This issue was caused by the extremely wide range of price data points we had at the time.
At the time, the displayed price was 705,000,000, and we manually changed it to 800,000,000, which matched the market price at that point.
As of September 2nd, the current itemdb price is 790,000,000, dated August 8th — but the data was actually processed on August 25th, after our fix.

Keep in mind that these prices are unique per owner, and if we have more than one price from the same owner, we use the cheapest one.
With these prices, our algorithm runs a series of mathematical calculations to identify and remove outliers. In this case, the algorithm removed the 1.05B, 1.5B, and 1.8B prices from consideration.
After that, there are still several other mathematical steps, normalizations, and filtering processes. At the end of the process, we arrived at a weighted mean of 791.5M, which, after rounding, became 790M.
Now, you might disagree with this result, and that’s completely understandable. Maybe some of these auction transactions involved some other form of compensation (for example, another junk auction that was used to make up the final price). However, we are ultimately tied to the data we have.
As you can see, our algorithm waited 23 days for more data before making a decision.
It’s also important to note that relisting has no effect on the price whatsoever. It may pollute our Trading Post/Auction history, but it does not affect the final price.
