Our search bar was kinda… not the brightest. We’ve tinkered with a bunch of stuff behind the scenes, and now it might dish out results that differ from what you were used to.
(for tech nerds: we now use MySQL’s Boolean Full Text Search)
When you used to type “yooyu” in the old search, the itemdb would hunt down anything with “yooyu” in the name, like “yooyuball”, for example. Not necessarily a bad thing, you might’ve actually been after a yooyuball.
But let’s say I’m looking for an item, and I don’t quite remember the name, but I know it had “orange” and “grundo” in it. In the old search, typing orange grundo would show you all sorts of orange grundos but would never uncover an “Orange Chocolate Grundo” because it had “Chocolate” in between those two words.
With our new search, you don’t have to type in the EXACT thing you’re looking for anymore – itemdb will do its best to find an item that includes the words you searched for. So when you search “orange grundo,” you might just stumble upon your “orange chocolate grundo” after all.
BUT WAIT
What if i want to type “yooyu” and get “yooyuball” in the search?
In that case, you can use the Wildcard Operator (*)! Just type yooyu* and our search will fetch items with words starting with “yooyu.” 🌟
