In March, itemdb completed 1 year of existence! As some of you may have noticed, we released a small form to collect opinions about the site to understand how we could improve. 



The changes from today are a reflection of the feedback we collected from you. Thank you for participating.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">New Pricing Algorithm</h2>



The main complaint was regarding our pricing and how the prices on the site were generally not so precise.



We are limited to the data we receive from users like you who use our <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/contribute">item data extractor script</a>, so less popular items may have significantly outdated prices (simply because nobody searches for them to provide us with that data).



However, our old algorithm also didn&#8217;t help much in this situation. In some cases, even with a great dataset, it could calculate and price a bit far from reality.



That&#8217;s why we rewrote our pricing algorithm, closely observed its behavior in the past few weeks, and are quite satisfied with the result. If you know a bit of programming and <a href="https://github.com/lucca180/itemdb/blob/main/utils/pricing.ts">want to take a peek</a>&#8230; We continue to make changes and improvements to the algorithm to always provide the most up-to-date prices.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Restock Dashboard</h2>



Our restock tools are among the most used parts of the site. So, we also dedicated some time to make some improvements:



<ul>
<li>We moved the complex calculations to the server side. This means that your device&#8217;s resources are spared, and things load faster now!</li>



<li>We added a heatmap for you to track your performance throughout the year. You can also click on a specific day to see a summary of the sessions for that day.</li>



<li>We added a &#8220;Worst Baits&#8221; section to track your worst purchases &#8211; and you can also hide them using the &#8220;Hide Losses&#8221; feature.</li>



<li>We also replaced the total time spent on restock card with an average reaction time card.</li>
</ul>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Quality-of-Life Changes</h2>



We also focused on several Quality of Life improvements:



<ul>
<li>Added a modal to teach new users how to contribute to updating wrong prices.</li>



<li>Created new administrator tools for manual price corrections.</li>



<li>Made internal changes to begin supporting prices above 2 billion (for the nerds, our price column in MySQL was int, now it&#8217;s Decimal).</li>



<li>Added a language switcher menu in the site footer.</li>



<li>Added a button to easily copy list links.</li>



<li>Now the publication dates of itemdb articles are displayed below the post summary.</li>
</ul>



We also made various changes to improve trade pricing:

<li>The &#8220;Feedback Voting Queue&#8221; on the homepage now only counts the feedbacks you can vote on.</li>



<li>Added an indicator for automatically priced trades in the Feedback Voting.</li>



<li>Improved the feedback system to approve suggestions more quickly.</li>



<li>Now &#8220;paperclip trades&#8221; are automatically skipped.</li>



<li>Added new experiments to facilitate your pricing:

<li>Sync price for equal items: All equal items below the current input will have their price synced.</li>



<li>Multiplier Shortcuts: Type k to multiply the current input by 1000, m for a million, and b for a billion.</li>

Today we have several quality of life changes based on your feedback!

<li>The &#8220;Feedback Voting Queue&#8221; count on the main page now only displays the feedback that you can vote on.</li>



<li>Keyboard shortcuts have been added to the <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/feedback/vote">Feedback page</a>: You can now upvote/downvote suggestions using the keyboard, and also submit trade pricings by pressing enter in the last price box.</li>



<li><a href="https://itemdb.com.br/lists/official">Official list</a> cards now support markdown (for displaying links in the description, for example).</li>



<li>We have added Categories to the <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/lists/official">Official Lists page</a>, allowing you to easily filter and find interesting lists to view.</li>



<li>Dynamic Lists will no longer always stay at the top of the &#8220;selects&#8221; throughout the site.</li>



<li>We made changes to the <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/search">search page</a> to facilitate navigation.</li>



<li>A &#8220;search mode&#8221; field has also been added for you to search by item description.</li>



<li>We&#8217;ve added a button to hide your misses on the <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/restock/dashboard">Restock Dashboard</a>. No more feeling down!</li>

<li>We have made changes to our trade pricing policy. Baby Paint Brushes on the wishlist can now be assumed at a price of 600,000 NP. <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/feedback/trades">Learn more</a>.</li>



<li>We have made significant internal changes to the structure of how the itemdb handles price reports. Our algorithm is now up to 90% faster in processing prices!</li>



<li>We have also made changes to the algorithm to make it more accurate and sensitive to radical fluctuations that may occur in prices over short periods (such as when Neopies distributes <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/item/marble-draik-egg">Marble Draik Eggs</a>, for example).</li>

We&#8217;ve got some cool new stuff from the last patch that we haven&#8217;t given enough props to. It&#8217;s demanding a bit more love and attention!

<li>We&#8217;ve introduced a new way to hide duplicate items (aka. the same item with different IDs). Now you&#8217;ll only see their &#8220;canonical&#8221; version in the itemdb (I&#8217;m talking to you, duplicated MMEs). </li>

Restocking is one of the most popular ways to earn Neopoints &#8211; and it&#8217;s quite challenging to start without knowing what to buy and how to improve &#8211; so we&#8217;ve developed new tools to help you become a restocking pro!



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Restock Hub</h2>



The <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/restock">Restock Hub</a> shows you all the profitable items in every shop in Neopia. You can filter by beginner-friendly shops or shops for scoring big profits! You can also adjust the filter and set your minimum profit, and itemdb will hide the cheaper items for you&#8230; You also don&#8217;t need to worry about remembering when it&#8217;s Half-Price Day or Tyrannian Victory Day &#8211; the <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/restock">Restock Hub</a> will alert you. The Restock Hub is limited by the information we have in the itemdb; extremely rare items for which we don&#8217;t have price data may not appear in the list of profitable items. We are constantly improving and expanding our database every day, and you can contribute! <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/contribute">Learn more</a>.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Restock Dashboard</h2>



The <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/restock/dashboard">Restock Dashboard</a> is here to help you improve your restocking by calculating your metrics, showing how much you&#8217;ve earned, displaying the amazing items you missed, and indicating items you lost to a bot.



With the Restock Tracker Script, your restocking session data is saved on your device and you can choose when to import it to itemdb. No data is sent without your explicit consent. After importing the sessions, the itemdb will calculate important data such as your refresh page rate and reaction time when restocking an item. This way, you can train to improve metrics and maximize your profits!

New Restock Tools: Hub and Dashboard

It&#8217;s been a while. We have tons of new stuff since the launch of <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/articles/checklists-and-dynamic-lists">Dynamic Lists</a>:



<ul>
<li>Restock Info: We now have a dedicated card for restock info – the restock price range, the last time we spotted this item, and the estimated profit.</li>



<li>You can also filter your searches by estimated restock profit! Pretty awesome, right?</li>



<li>We&#8217;ve improved performance with large lists – your device won&#8217;t freeze when loading massive lists (like your entire sdb imported with the <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/articles/userscripts">List Importer Script</a>).</li>



<li>We&#8217;ve fixed (implemented?) the <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/feedback/vote">feedback voting</a>. You can now help the itemdb ensure that other users&#8217; information is correct.</li>



<li>We updated the homepage to display the Trending Items, the latest owls updates, and the hottest restocks from the past 7 days.</li>



<li>We fixed various bugs related to your session. You won&#8217;t receive an error when opening your private list for the first time in the day anymore.</li>
</ul>



We also made a bunch of changes for the Faerie Festival and the Trick-or-Treat Bags:

<li>We created a hub to assist during the <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/hub/faeriefestival2023">Faerie Festival</a>. Additionally, all item pages and the <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/articles/userscripts">SDB Pricer Script</a> have been updated to display the point value of all items.</li>



<li>With the huuuuuge influx of new trades to price, we had to introduce an &#8220;auto-pricing&#8221; system. Based on the information we already had on various trades, the itemdb can now automatically price some trades.</li>



<li>We also implemented an &#8220;event mode&#8221; that makes the itemdb update item prices more frequently (because prices were changing FAST).</li>



<li>We rewrote the entire logic behind &#8220;openable items.&#8221; We now have the flexibility to separate items by prize pool and provide more statistics and chances to get bonus/Limited Edition items.</li>
</ul>



We want to delve deeper into the idea of creating hubs on the itemdb, so we&#8217;re working on creating a restock hub to centralize various tools and useful lists to assist you during your restocks.

Patch Notes – 01/11/2023

Imagine you&#8217;ve done this super cool search using our <a href="http://itemdb.com.br/articles/advanced-search-queries">operators and filters</a>, and now you want to put it all into a list. Doing it page by page? Ain&#8217;t nobody got time for that.



Introducing Dynamic Lists⚡. With them, itemdb takes care of creating and keeping your list always up-to-date based on the awesome search you&#8217;ve put together.



Dynamic Lists can come in three flavors: Add Only, Remove Only, and Full Sync. Let&#8217;s break down these three types using a NP Background Gallery Wishlist example



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Add Only</h4>



In this mode, itemdb will only add new backgrounds to your list. So, if TNT releases a new neopoint background, itemdb will automatically add it to the wishlist. This also means you can&#8217;t remove any backgrounds from the list; otherwise, itemdb will just add them back. However, you can hide them if you want to keep things on the down-low. 😉



However, if TNT decides that a certain background is now a foreground, itemdb will not remove it from the list.



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Remove Only</h4>



In this mode, itemdb will add all items to the list only once. After that, it will only remove items.



This means that if you manually add a non-background item to the list, itemdb will notice this odd one out and remove it.



It also means that our &#8220;background now foreground&#8221; will be removed from the list.



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Full Sync</h4>



itemdb will keep your list 100% identical to the query you wrote. Nothing more and nothing less.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Checklists</h2>



itemdb&#8217;s users don&#8217;t live on queries alone. You can also create dynamic lists based on other lists (technically, we call these dynamic lists Linked Lists).



This is especially useful for creating your checklists based on an Official List or even another list of your own.



Just like dynamic lists, Linked Lists also have the three modes itemdb can use to keep your list 100% up-to-date.



We&#8217;re also working on improving our <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/lists/import">List Importer Script</a> to make it even more powerful. Soon, you&#8217;ll be able to create checklists for Neodeck, Gourmet Food, Books, and much more!

Our search bar was kinda&#8230; not the brightest. We&#8217;ve tinkered with a bunch of stuff behind the scenes, and now it might dish out results that differ from what you were used to.
(for tech nerds: we now use MySQL&#8217;s Boolean Full Text Search) 

When you used to type &#8220;yooyu&#8221; in the old search, the itemdb would hunt down anything with &#8220;yooyu&#8221; in the name, like &#8220;yooyuball&#8221;, for example. Not necessarily a bad thing, you might&#8217;ve actually been after a yooyuball.

In the old search, typing orange grundo would show you all sorts of orange grundos but would never uncover an &#8220;Orange Chocolate Grundo&#8221; because it had &#8220;Chocolate&#8221; in between those two words.

With our new search, you don&#8217;t have to type in the EXACT thing you&#8217;re looking for anymore – itemdb will do its best to find an item that includes the words you searched for. So when you search &#8220;orange grundo,&#8221; you might just stumble upon your &#8220;orange chocolate grundo&#8221; after all.
BUT WAIT
What if i want to type &#8220;yooyu&#8221; and get &#8220;yooyuball&#8221; in the search? 
In that case, you can use the Wildcard Operator (*)! Just type yooyu* and our search will fetch items with words starting with &#8220;yooyu.&#8221; 🌟

<li>You can now peep the itemdb ID (aka internal ID) on each item&#8217;s page. What are you gonna do with that? Beats me&#8230;</li>
<li>Items in the trade history cards are now clickable (though it can still get a bit muddled when multiple items share a name – thanks, TNT&#8230;)</li>
<li>When you try adding a duplicate item to a list, a nifty little window will pop up, letting you choose how many of that item you want on the list. Sweet, right?</li>
<li>You can now right-click to kick an item off a list.</li>
<li>We&#8217;ve fixed up some typos and inaccuracies in our <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/privacy">privacy policy</a>.</li>

Owls is a Neopian community project aimed at facilitating NC Trading by creating an estimated price value for NC items based on <a href="https://itemdb.com.br/search?s=Gift%20Box%20Mystery%20Capsule">Gift Box Capsules</a> (GBCs).
So when you see something like &#8220;Owls Value: 1~2,&#8221; it means that the item is worth approximately 2 GBCs.
It&#8217;s important to note that Owls Value is just a guideline and not a strict rule. So you are free to price your NC items as you prefer.

What is the Owls Value?

Once you have installed the script, you can go to your <a class="chakra-link css-spn4bz" href="https://www.neopets.com/gallery/index.phtml?dowhat=rank&amp;view=all">gallery rank page</a> and select one of color pallete options to sort your gallery by color.
Computers cannot see colors the same way humans do, so somethimes the sorting might not be perfect. In this case you can manually change the order of some items (you can use decimals to put an item in between two others!).
If your gallery is too big it can take a while to the magic happen, so be patient! Also it can fail if we dont have some item in our database, so if that happens, <a class="chakra-link css-spn4bz" href="https://itemdb.com.br/contribute">learn how to help</a>!

Hit the Save button and you are done! You can now <a class="chakra-link css-spn4bz" href="https://www.neopets.com/gallery/index.phtml?is_owner=no&amp;view=all">visit your gallery</a> and see your gallery sorted by color!
